I was born in Turnhout (Antwerp), Belgium.

I started off my career as a science journalist at the Dutch Public Broadcast organisation.

During the COVID19 pandemic, I was a scientific communicator and scientific collaborator for the Belgian Government and the Belgian national public health institute called Sciensano.

My current main activities deal with writing as a consultant for the Interoperability and Digital Government Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Digital Services (DG DIGIT).

From the origin of the word ‘cell’ to the lost waters of Mars. I can’t think of a scientific discipline that doesn’t raise my interest. In addition, I have a broad and profound knowledge of the cultural history of Europe.

I love to think and explore new things. Next to reading and writing, my main hobbies are:

  • playing chess,
  • listening to music, talk radio, podcasts and lectures,
  • watching films and documentaries,
  • walking in nature and occasionally playing basketball.

Due to time constraints, I generally don’t watch fictional TV series, except for Doctor Who and (now and then) some mini-series.
